The Problem

This problem is faced in a number of industrial and commercial applications where the wearing surface has deteriorated to the point that refurbishment is the only solution, but it needs to be fast track.

Solution Criteria

Cemflow Topping is a high performance, pump applied, industrial grade wearcoat, purpose designed for the fast track refurbishment and upgrading of existing internal floors.

Its main benefits include:

• 3 hour walk on hardness, 24 hours to light traffic significantly reducing downtime.

• 2000m2 can be pump applied in one day.

• ‘Special Class’ abrasion resistance to BS8204: Part 2: 1999 - 40 times the wear resistance of a normal concrete floor.

• Self-levelling, self-smoothing properties to provide a perfectly flat surface.

• 5 to 15mm application thickness (Cemflow Base available for sections up to 40mm thick in one application)

• Can be overcoated if required.

• Cost effective.

Surface Preparation

The surface must be prepared to remove any dust, grease, oil or any other contamination. Application of Cemflow primer ensures and excellent bond between the floor and the subsequent

Cemflow Topping or Cemflow Base.

The use of  a suitable damp proof membrane such as strongcoat DPM maybe needed where residual damp in the existing concrete slab is apparent - more typical in new build applications.

Cemflow Pump Application

Pump application enables large areas to be covered quickly and cost effectively, with the ability to pump up to 2000m2 per day. Continuous pumping helps to ensure a smooth and level floor is achieved, critical in areas where there is the expected level of performance. Cemflow Base can be used under Cemflow Topping particularly where floor levels need to be raised substantially in a quick cost-effective manner.

Finishing

The self-levelling and self-smoothing properties increase productivity, keeping refurbishment times to a minimum. The use of a spiked roller is taken over the applied Cemflow Topping or Cemflow Base to release any trapped air that can cause weak spots in the finished floor, causing an area to crack or delaminate.

Fast Track Refurbishment

In a short time, the existing concrete floor is transformed into a high performance, non dusting wearcoat suitable for medium to heavy-duty applications.
Cemflow Topping can be left as it is to produce a hard working, long lasting floor, or to give additional chemical and waterproofing properties, overcoated with Strongcoat WD, a water dispersed solvent free epoxy coating.
