Agricultural Fencing

Fencing is a vital part of land management. It provides an effective stock management system and a visible boundary. A well erected fence using the best available materials will give many years of cost effective service. Fencing is not a cheap job. It will cost just as much to erect poor quality materials as it will to erect good. Therefore, a little extra outlay at the beginning will prove to be a sound, long term investment.

Agricultural Fencing

We stock a wide rang of quality agricultural fencing and the tools and accessories with which to erect it. Whether you require to fence a large area or just the garden or allotment we will be able to help.
If you need any help or advice at all on materials or erection of the fence, please ask and we will do our best to help.

Fencing Wire

Fencing wires are supplied in wide range of diameters and coil weights. As well as the standard galvanised mild steel we also carry black annealed, PVC coated and galvanised high tensile wires. Fencing wires are often used as toppings to other fences, as line wires, as tying wire or as a fence on its own, usually with steel dropper bars and clips or as an electric fence using high tensile or stranded wire.

Please be aware that not all galvanised wire is the same. Wherever possible wire galvanised to the relevant British Standard - heavily galvanised - should be used. This will guarantee a minimum zinc coat weight and, the more zinc there is on a wire, the longer it will last. All our fencing products are heavily galvanised.

Stock Fencing

The traditional farmers fence used for keeping in sheep, pigs and cattle. The bulk sold is style 8/80/15-8 line wires, 80cm high with 15cm between vertical wires.

This is a relatively cheap fence and as such is often used as a general purpose fence/boundary marker in addition to the livestock role. The 1.20m high stock fence is very often used as a fence for dogs, the close mesh at the base of the fence preventing the smaller dogs from pushing through the fence whilst the 1.20m height of the fence makes if that much harder to jump.

As with plain wire the stock fence is available in many types.

Light Pattern

Developed as an economical fence for situations where perhaps a fence is required on a temporary basis only.

Medium Pattern

Traditionally this has been the most popular fence for permanent applications as it is so versatile. with the addition of a top line(s) of plain wire or barbed wire the fence height can be raised to suit pigs, sheep cattle and horses.

Heavy Pattern

The most robust of stock fence, is generally used where fencing may be difficult to erect and the fence is required to last a long time.

High Tensile

Used extensively by professional fencers where the higher tensile wire allows the fence to be tensioned that little bit more without the wire stretching. With high tensile stock fence you can also use fewer posts which can give considerable cost savings.
Wire Netting

Commonly known as “Chicken Wire” this old established wire fence still has many uses around the farm and garden. It is easily erected and dismantled, making it ideal to use as either a temporary or a permanent fence. With a wide range of mesh sizes, wire diameters, roll widths and lengths there is a size to suit most applications. Our stock profile and a range of suggested uses are as follows.

Welded Wire Mesh

Weld Mesh FencingA strong mesh, the thicker gauges and welded construction giving a very strong, rigid mesh with a multitude of uses.

The mesh is available in bright/self colour (ideal for welding), galvanised and plastic coated. A limited range is available in stainless steel. Welded mesh is available in rolls, standard panels and also “cut to size” - where panels are cut to the exact size you require. Mesh sizes vary from 6mm square up to 150mm square and wire diameters range from 0.671mm up to 5.00mm.

Amongst the common uses of welded mesh are; hayracks, gate cladding, pig flooring, machine guards, tree guards, animal cages, dog runs, screens and partitions, shelving, aviaries, fencing, bird feeders etc.

Electric Fencing

From temporary, portable fences to permanent we have the materials in stock. We will supply as little as one post to a complete system. As well as the traditional uses for sheep and pigs we also stock a wide range of tape systems for horses.

Field Gates

We carry a full range of field gates - both Galvanised steel and timber - in stock, together with the posts and fittings to suit. All are to relevant British Standards with regards to galvanising on the steel gates and treatment on the timber. Both are manufactured in the UK.

Steel gates are supplied complete with slide latch and adjustable gate eyes whereas the timber gates are supplied exclusive of fittings.

All sizes are imperial - Other widths are available to order.

For the timber gates we carry;
Top and bottom bands
Hooks to bolt, hooks on plate, hooks to drive, hooks to weld and hooks to build.
Spring latches, Staple latches
Drop overs

Or as complete sets for the gate: Adjustable field gate hinge pack, Field gate spring fastener
Additionally we carry “spares” for the metal gates: Adjustable gate eyes - Eyes for welding
Posts for both type of gate are available.

Posts

Most agricultural fencing is erected on timber posts. We have both straining posts and intermediate timber posts in stock of various sizes for the job you intend to do.

Fencing Tools

To ensure we offer the best possible service we carry all the items you will need to erect the fence. Whatever the type of fence you choose we will have the tools to enable you to erect the fence correctly. As well as general fencing tools we carry those related to a specific type of fence.

Amongst the items we carry are:
Post hole diggers - spades and “shuv-holders”, Fencing pliers, Post knockers,
“Monkey wire strainers”, Rapidos, Hammers, Gloves and Safety shoes and clothing.

Weldmesh

Weldmesh is widely used throughout industry, agriculture and horticulture.

Wire mesh being electrically welded at each intersection to create a rigid mesh. After manufacture the mesh can be galvanised or galvanised and PVC coated if required. For special applications Weldmesh can be fabricated from stainless steel wire and in some cases galvanised to BS 729.

Weldmesh is available in standard panels and rolls. It is also available in ‘cut to size’ - the exact size you require for your application.

Mesh sizes available vary from 1/4” x 1/4” right up to 6” x 6”. Wire sizes range from 0.71mm (22g) up to 5.00mm (6g). With panels up to 7’ x 12’ and rolls from 6” (150mm) up to 8’ (2.40m).
